Fork

A fork in blockchain is like a fork in the road, where developers decide to take a new path.

It’s a change in the network’s protocol, sometimes leading to two different versions of the blockchain.

They can be hard (resulting in a new blockchain and potentially a new cryptocurrency) or soft (backward-compatible changes to the existing network).
