Pump and dump

A pump and dump is a manipulative scheme where the price of a cryptocurrency is artificially inflated (pumped) followed by a rapid sell-off (dump) for profit by the organizers, leaving other investors with losses.

It’s like someone hyping up a product to sell at a high price, then disappearing when people realize it’s not worth much.
