The new Statue of Satoshi: Bitcoin’s Creator Takes a Seat on Wall Street

New York just got a Satoshi Nakamoto statue planted right at the Stock Exchange (NYSE), sitting calmly across from the iconic Charging Bull of Wall Street.

A pretty unexpected sight — and a symbolic moment showing just how far Bitcoin has come from its cypherpunk beginnings.

Meet the Statue: A Disappearing Satoshi in Plain Sight

This Satoshi artwork depicts a hooded and cross-legged person working on a laptop. Basically the posture every dev adopts when going into focus mode — but also the most common way to represent the anonymous creator of Bitcoin around the world.

Crafted from thin layers of polished metal, the statue has a “now you see me, now you don’t” kind of effect. When you look at it from the side, the silhouette appears fully. When looking from the front, the figure blends into the background and almost disappears.

It’s a perfect metaphor for Satoshi Nakamoto: visible through impact, invisible through identity.

This NYSE installation is the 6th of 21 planned statues. Yes, that’s a direct reference to Bitcoin’s hard-capped 21 million supply. Earlier statues have already made appearances across the globe — in Switzerland, El Salvador, Japan, Vietnam, and Miami — forming a growing international trail dedicated to the world’s most mysterious inventor.

Who’s Behind the Artwork?

The statue was created by Italian artist Valentina Picozzi, best known as Satoshi Gallery. Her artistic mission is simple yet poetic: materialize the immaterial (in her own way of course). With her statue series, she captures the idea that Satoshi represents principles — decentralization, transparency, and a bit of mystery — more than it represents a person.

And being able to put her statue in Wall Street is quite a milestone! In her own words:

“This is such an achievement, even in our wildest dream we wouldn’t think about placing the statue of Satoshi Nakamoto in this location!”

Her vision is to create physical touchpoints for something fundamentally digital, reminding viewers that while Satoshi may disappear, the ideas remain everywhere.

This NYSE statue was also brought to life thanks to Twenty One Capital (XXI) — a Bitcoin Treasury Company launched with the support of Jack Mallers. Their goal is to bridge the gap between Bitcoin and traditional finance by raising awareness where institutions live, breathe, and invest — in the most symbolic place possible in that case.

Their involvement makes the moment even more symbolic: Bitcoin is no longer an outsider — it’s becoming part of the financial establishment’s daily scenery.

A Symbol for the Crypto Era

This Satoshi statue facing Wall Street’s bull feels like a modern and financial version of David versus Goliath. Although now, Goliath is not fighting David as it used to anymore. Instead, both worlds now stand face-to-face, shaping the future together.

Nevertheless, this statue marks another milestone in the recognition of Bitcoin and the crypto ecosystem at large. What used to be “alternative” is now a paramount part of the financial landscape (literally).

Let’s see where the next statue will pop…
