Michael, our Co-founder & CEO never looked back after moving to Barcelona. He didn’t want to build in Barcelona — he wanted to build for it.
"I always wanted to build a local startup ever since I moved to Barcelona in 2020. One that understands this region, reflects its values, and offers utility for people here.
Like all millennials, I grew up in an era of massive globalization, and I became tired of it. I believe that being local is truly important. I believe that honoring the local language and culture is a must, and that before going ’global’, we need to think ‘local’.
Venga started in English because my first language is English. But today, I’m proud to call Venga what it is: a local Barcelona startup."

HOW IT ALL STARTED
Venga wasn’t built to chase hype. It started with a small team in Barcelona asking a simple question: “Why does crypto still feel so risky, confusing, or far away for most people?”
We believed it didn’t have to be that way — so we built something better. After years in the crypto world, we noticed the same thing every time we explained it to friends, neighbors, or our parents: blank stares. Too technical. Too disconnected from real life.
So we decided to build something different and we called it Venga.
Because here, Venga isn’t just a word you hear every day. It reflects something deeper the Catalan spirit: direct and pragmatic (seny), but also creative, energetic, and full of drive (rauxa). It’s that balance practical but warm, rooted in community but always moving forward that we try to build into every part of Venga.
